AIR QUALITY CO LOCATION CASE STUDY THE URBAN OBSERVATORY IN NEWCASTLE
Two Aeroqual AQY Air Quality Monitors (serial Numbers AQY-BB-612 and AQY-BB-614) were installed at the Urban Observatory1 site at Coast Road, Newcastle from July to September 2019. Data from the AQYs were compared to co-located reference analysers; namely a Thermo 42i NO-NO2- NOx Analyser, a Thermo 49i ozone analysers and a FiDAS 200 PM analyser. Both AQYs were calibrated against the site reference analysers on 16th July using data from the previous week. No further adjustments were made to the AQYs until 11th September. Calibration factors were calculated (but not applied) for the final week of the trial and the changes in these factors used to calculate the drift for the test period.
The following charts are taken from the Aeroqual calibration app which is used to calculate and apply span and offset values derived from calibration. Plots for “Calibration 1st-14th July” show correlation with reference data for the initial calibration period. Plots of “14th July to 11th September without adjustment” are the data for this period based on the initial calibration only.
